Anne Stokes Small Tile Box: Oak King
$24.95
"Ever since my father first read me The Hobbit when I was a child I have loved all things mythical, and the world of fantasy continues to be the inspiration for my work. I am delighted that Nemesis Now have created this unique range from my designs." ~ Anne Stokes
This beautiful
"Oak King" Small Tile Box
by
Nemesis Now
is a licensed collectable based on the work of renowned fantasy artist,
Anne Stokes
. The artwork is a wonderfully detailed representation of the pagan Green Man. The wooden box has a matte black finish and is lined with black velvet inside. Inset into the hinged lid is a ceramic art tile with a deep thermal imprint of the artwork. Perfect for keeping your favourite treasures and trinkets safe!
The external measurements are
12.5cm long x 12.5cm wide x 7cm high
. Internally, it measures 10cm x 10cm and is 3.5cm deep, plus an extra 1.5cm of space allowed for by the hollow lid.
The Green Man
motif has many variations. Found in many cultures around the world, the Green Man is often related to natural vegetative deities springing up in different cultures throughout the ages. Primarily it is interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, or "renaissance," representing the cycle of growth each spring. Some speculate that the mythology of the Green Man developed independently in the traditions of separate ancient cultures and evolved into the wide variety of examples found throughout history. In
Wicca
, the Green Man has often been used as a representation of the Horned God, a mix of ancient Pagan gods such as the Celtic Cernunnos and the Greek Pan.
