This simply stunning Callithea Butterfly (Callithea leprieuri) specimen from Peru has been beautifully preserved and mounted behind glass in the reverse position so the underneath of its wings are on display. While the top of the wings are a pretty dark blue, almost the entire underside is metallic with two different shades of blue/green coloring and a dab of red close to the body. This type of colouring is quite rare amongst butterflies, which is why the specimen has been mounted in the reverse position. A must have for butterfly collectors!
The frame is 12.5cm wide x 12.5cm high x 3cm deep and the butterfly itself has a wing span of approximately 6cm across.
The frame is made from a black synthetic timber look-alike material which is both durable and attractive, does not require fumigation between countries and naturally does not contribute to deforestation. The framed specimen also comes in a gift-box made from recyclable cardboard.
This is a brand new and genuine specimen display which will make a unique gift for that hard-to-buy-for person in your life, or simply to feature as a most striking decoration in your own home!
