This beautiful statue is cast from high quality polyresin and has been handpainted in pale gold and copper colouring with great attention to detail. It features a sitting Egyptian cat figure, emblematic of the Goddess Bastet, wearing an ornate Scarab beetle necklace.

Bastet was the Protector of Cats and, like them, was admired for her agility and strength. As a sun goddess she represents the warm, life giving power of the sun. She could take the form of a cat herself and is also often represented as a woman with a cat's head. Bastet is also associated with Sekhmet, the lioness-headed Goddess of War.

The statue stands 20cm high with the base measuring 8cm x 12cm. This is a truly stunning piece of Egyptian decor!
