This beautiful large statue by Veronese is cast from a high quality polyresin compound and has been handpainted in a burnished bronze finish with colour accents as shown. It depicts an Egyptian jackal, emblematic of the God Anubis, intricately decorated all over with hieroglyphs, cartouches and the Eye of Horus symbol. The detail in this piece is truly remarkable!

The statue stands 31cm high with the base measuring 12.5cm x 17cm. It is a very solid piece and weighs almost 3kgs. The base is lined with black velvet to prevent slipping and damage to surfaces. A truly stunning piece of Egyptian decor!

Anubis was the God of Embalming and the Dead. Since jackals were often seen in cemeteries, the ancient Egyptians believed that Anubis watch over the dead. Anubis was the god who embalmed Osiris after he was killed by Seth. Thus, Anubis watches over the process of mummification. Priests often wore a mask of Anubis during mummification ceremonies.
